I love it, I wore this top backwards for work appropriate look as the front is quite revealing but it might work for a fun date night out with hubby ;)

Its almost the weekend!! We will visit my hubby grandma, go to a indian concert, sunday to the temple and do some laundry. What are your plans?

Cardigan: George via Walmart ($11), Skirt: RICKI's ($15), Pumps: SteveMadden ($40), Watch: Fossil (gift)

You guys, can you believe it is already August, 2012 is half over! For some reason, years go by faster and faster the older I get. Speaking of which, my birthday is coming up real soon! This outfit reminds me of a coral fest - the fest that exists in my mind.

I had a total chilled long weekend! Didn't go anywhere, didn't do much other than catching some sales online (Oh yeah! - thats what I call an excellent weekend!!)

Have a good Hump Day!! :)

Neon at the Office

Neon blouse: Dynamite ($6), Skirt: RICKIs ($15), Pumps: Payless ~ old ($15), Watch: Fossil (gift), Bangels: F21 ($3)

You heard it right, I rocked neon for the office look this week. As I started my new job, I stuck to the standard rule for the first 2 days - dress and a blazer. Third day, I decided to show some personality by wearing neon. Got some looks and some compliments - overall it went ok.

Got this shirt for $6 only, what a steal. I am being extremely lucky with bargains lately.
Happy Friday!!!!!!

Stripes and Wine (& Interview outfit)

Top: F21 ($7), Blazer: F21 (hand me downs), Skirt: CLEO ($20), Pumps: Steve Madden via Winners ($25), Watch: Fossil (gift)

I wore this to my interview recently, for a position I wanted to go into confidently so I put on my stripes shirt, a classic black blazer with an unexpected berry/wine pencil skirt. I think it always important to make a impression when  going for interviews if you dress up a little, show your personality while still being conservative.

Dressing good and feeling confident not only makes a good impression the moment they see you, it also helps you to answer the questions confidently. This was for a office based industry interview for a professional role in a municipality.

Would you wear this to an interview?

Peach Glow

Top: Smart Set ($10), Skirt: RICKI's ($15), Pumps: Steve Madden, Watch: Fossil (gift), Necklace: Wal mart($3)

If there is ever a day I want to feel sophisticated - i reach for a pencil skirt. I love the fit, brown color of this one alot, different choice than a typical black skirt. It also goes perfectly with a number of my tops. I decided to pair it with this peach glowing blouse -one of pastels shirts I bought this summer. I love this top, its billowy sleeves and the lace detail on the shoulder.

Hope you all are enjoying the summer!

Dressing down a pencil skirt

Sweater: Forever 21 ($6), Pencil Skirt: Le Chateau ($20), Boots: The BAY ($30), Tights: F21 ($5), Necklace: Ardene's ($4), Charms Necklace: From Hawaii (gift)

This is what I wore to office for a casual Friday wear. I absolutely love the color of this skirt and last time I wore it with a white blouse tucked in with a skinny belt. But this time around, I wanted to wear it with more of a casual outfit.

Now, I can get more uses out of my pencil skirts! Hope you enjoyed both dressed up and dressed down look below!

Rainbows and Purple

Tank and Cardi: thrifted ($5 together), Skirt: H&M ($7), Tights: $3

I love this nailpant - combo of NYX purple and F21 bronze nail paints!

I love this rainbow shirt so much, I wear it whenever I need a "pick me up". I danced so much at the bachelorette party that my body is still sore...not bec I am not used to the dance...but bec I was in high heels all night (note to self to always pack flats), not a very samrt idea.

But I paired the pick me up shirt with a random cardigan and a pencil skirt :) This is pracitally effortless styling, what do you say?

I am starting my xmas shopping now, there is not much I am doing this year. I don't know why but I find myself questioning the consumerism of gifts for others.

Have you finished and got gifts wrapped up under the tree?

Celebrating TANZANIA!!

I wore this outfit to a recent work party. We were celebrating Tanzania 50th year since they gained independence. I had purchased this necklace last year from a local festival here at a Tanzanian stall, so I thought this would be a perfect occasion to wear this necklace. I know I did not take a photograph of the shoes, but I wore it with my red wedges (which will be featured on the blog soon, promise!)

Being from India, I am just so fond of jewellery. I also love to collect different kinds of jewellery from different countries. This one is so chunky and makes a statement.

Linking up to this challenge - a half-day late - challenge is to rock BLACK.

Do you own/love any ethnic jewellery?

Wedding Inspiration Folder

Skirt: H&M, Top: Ricki's, Cardi: H&M, Tights & Necklace: Ardene, Shoes: Payless

Trench Coat: Suzy Sheir, Scarf: Gift, Ring: F21

I have started creating a wedding inspiration folder - to add wedding inspiration photos in. I save bridesmaid dresses styles, my bridal colors, hairdo's that I like, table decorations, centrepieces in that folder. I am just in so much awe at this point in planning the wedding. I am sooo soo soo happy that I get to marry love of my life with my parents fulll support. *Touch Wood* (all the south-asians will get it) - its like "knocking on wood". For now, I am not going crazy...just loving it all. Who knows this might change in few months?! haha

Anyway, about the look I wore - I just paired my black pencil skirt with the top from ricki's and on the days I dont know what to do with my outfit - I just added blue to it. Simple, dimple, simple outfit, nothing fancy.

Thanks for reading! :)

WIWW - Cool Look

Doesnt look like much.

Top: H&M  |  Skirt: Thrifted  |  Shoes: Steve Madden  |  Belt: Gift

Seems like this week is going to be full of compliments! Monday we had the sexy look, and tuesday was "you look nice and girly" and Wednesday I present you with a "Cool look" which is what Mr. Fiancee intreprets it as...I  thrifted this white pencil skirt back in May and it fits me like a glove, makes me feel so feminine.

Mind you, my current work doesn't require me to be so dressed up. But I do it, out of my own will. Being dressed up makes me feel like a) Happy because I am dressed up important b) I am productive bec I feel good about myself c) It makes easy transistion into after-work social events d) Lets me be creative the night before (bec I have now started creating outfits the nightty before!

Who knew there would be so many positivities out of getting dressed! =)

Do you feel empowered by the way you dress?
