Issues with Bridesmaids

is that in East-Indian cultures, the issue of bridesmaids don't exist. Well now that my fiancee is Canadian and we are doing 2 ceremonies - East Indian and Canadian/American. The only thing is now I have to choose between my close knit girlfriends. So I did. I picked 7! Mr. Fiancee only has 3 groomsmen and he doesnt wanna put any more. Well, its really really hard for me to include 3 and not the other four. I dont know what to do. I came up with couple of options and maybe you can help me out:

1) Have no bridesmaids or groomsmen and just have 2 people in the bridal party - best man as my brother and maid of honor by my side which is Ryan's sister (We are deciding to keep it in the family - plus we cant choose between our friends!)

2) For us to match the # of groomsmen with bridesmaids. (This is hard for me)

3) For us to have unmatching # of groomsmen and bridemaids - still hard for me to downsize the number.

4) Mr. Fiancee suggested this - to have 4 bridesmaids to match with 4 groomsmen and involve the other 3 potential bridesmaids be involved in some very important part of the wedding (luckily we have 5-6 ceremonies between 2 types of weddings).

The thing is - this is suppossed to be fun and this is becoming un-necessarily stressful. I dont want to hurt anyone's feelings you know and  I want to know what you guys think.

Maybe together we can come up with some creative idea! What do you think?

Oh, yeah this is what I wore today:

Dress: Cleo, Shoes: Payless, Blazer: Thrifted, Necklace: Gift

  1. I think either family or have your other three girls do something important.

Don't stress! I know it's hard, but this was my mantra: those who matter won't mind and those who mind don't matter! It made it easier to do what I wanted, instead of what SHOULD be done.

    Love the pink blazer!

  2. Weddings can be very stressful, so just remember to breathe. Many people have mismatched bridal parties these days, so do it the way YOU WANT, not what you think SHOULD be done as Ali said. Good Luck!

  3. 2 ceremonies! Lucky you! :) I can just advise you not to stress out and do what will make you happy. At the end of the day if you want to remember all 7 of your friends as bridemaids, do it!

  4. You look great in pink!
    Here's what I think:
Go with whichever decision you'll not regret later, which to me sounds like including all 7 of your friends! :)  There's no rule that says the bridesmaids have to match # of groomsmen!

  5. Im not too sure how to help you with the bridesmaids dilema, I've never dealt with anything wedding before, BUT this look totally caught my eye. The pink blazer looks lovely on you and when mixed with the black and white dress, so perfect

  6. Wow, that is a dilemma!  Unfortunately, I don't really have much to offer, but I feel like you should do whatever makes you happy! It's your day!  Have 7 bridesmaids if you want to. At least your bridal party will total at 10 attendants, so pairs can walk down the aisle together!

On another note, I love that bright pop of pink!  B&W make such a perfect canvas to showcase bright colors.

  7. i understand the bridesmaid situation. i had a similar (yet not as complex) issue. we had 5 groomsmen and 4 bridesmaids. my brother is in the navy and we werent sure if he would be able to make it to the wedding until the week of... he did (yay!) so we had an uneven amount... i cant really offer much advice, but only do what will make YOU happy. i think any of the options are good ones... but what is important to you??

  8. Have as many bridal attendants as you want! I've been to so many different weddings and seen pretty much all the options you outlined. Do whatever makes you happy!
I would say don't worry so much about the hurting feelings, your friends will understand. Having other responsibilities to make them a part of the event is a great option.
But if you want 7... go for it!

  9. Looks great! Love the pop of pink!! Can you have them play other roles...I am a hostess in my good friend's weeding in a few weeks. That is plenty of an honor for me.
