2011 RECAP and (Happy New Year 2012)

I really liked getting dressed in 2011. I can't believe how horrible I dressed before, always in black pants. I am going to enjoy it even more in 2012! I started blogging in March 2011 and got to learn lots from other bloggers and there is SO MUCH inspiration out there. Bloggers ladies, you really rock! LOTS, is actually an understatement. I love to have this creative outlet - thank you to all my old and new readers for your support and comments! :)

Life was real good to me in 2011 and I cannot wait for the new year to come to bring its awesomeness in our lives! I gonna be a married woman in 2012, Hooray!!!! :)

Last, but not least, awesome Nitika at The Shopoholic Diaries decided to pass The Versatile Blogger award to me - thanks alot doll!! I still cant believe you met Sonam Kappor this year! (I am a little jelly!) :) and now I have to share some random facts!

7 random facts about moi:
  1. I love to watch romantic movies, I am the queen of sappy songs
  2. I love to read inspirational books
  3. I love to collect jewellery that are made in different countries
  4. I have overcome the fear of looking dark and not being pretty enough (Life is too short and I don't care anymore about how people perceive me based on my color), I have learned to accept and embrace my skin color

Six Months Flashback

I often spend time reflecting on my habits, my accomplishments, mistakes and about my passions and all of it got me thinking about the evolvement of my blog and style. The reason I started this blog six months ago was to learn from others and experiment with my looks with new things learned and keep a diary of it. I recently spent some time and picked out "some popular outfits" that you and I have enjoyed. And these are not "I like" outfits, this is something I "Love Outfits" and probably will wear it again.

Six months ago, I didn't know a thing about fashion. Like I didn't even know the word "Gingham" and what it meant. I would wear dark, boring and dull colors to office with little to no experimenting with colors except on the weekends. I used to fancy girls who knew how to make their closet work. That's when NavLandStyle was born! I remember when i got 10 followers..I was like really, people enjoy what I write - thanks for your inspirations and lead e to try harder!

These are my favourite 12 most favourite office looks so far and 4 casual (sorry folks, I work in an office and so you will see more cubicle fashion here).......so here we go. I strictly chose some of my top Favourite looks that I am proud for creating them and WEARING them too!!

#1,2,3,4
One pop of color in any piece is essential - either in accessories or top or bottoms or shoes. I try to not go overboard with too much color for office attire.

# 5,6,7,8
I wore accessories in every outfit. Belts, necklaces, scarves are also essential in creating an outfit from drag to beautiful. I always loved accessories but now only I am getting more MILEAGE out of them.

# 9,10,11,12
Creating a uniform - pattern top with solid bottom or printed bottom with a solid top. Some weeks, I wear this sort of uniform all week to the office. Just mix pattern with solid colors in the closet. It simplies things to get ready in the morning.

#13,14,15,16
Here is a collage of my most favourite casual looks. I like to be comfortable on the weekends mostly in my PJ's unless I am headed out (ahem, therefore absence of casual looks). In each look, I have paired something unusual - and by unusual I mean (out of my comfort zone like pairing red pink together in the 14th outfit) --- but that zone is expanding and I quite enjoy it :) I look forward to learning much more and creating more fun looks.... so stay tuned! =]

Thanks so much for Stopping by!!!

AND...........Time for some outtakes...

These outtakes are so funny!! Hope you will follow along so we  take this journey one step at a time and see how far we can get!! :)

1-Black Tall Boots (BAY), 2-Tan sandals (ALDO), 3-Florals - Ardene, 4-black sandals -ALDO,             5-Copper Heels - Payless

Analysis:
  • thrifted items
  • I wish I could put more shoes in the pile
  • Lots of colors in the mix because thats how I like to dress.
  • Had to put more office related items than casual since I work 5 days a week
  • I fear I won't have enough tops to wear
  • Its tricky to put summer items or winter clothes in the 30X30 - because lets face it - in my city- the weather fluctuates up and down from day-to-day! Plus my office is cold most of the time. So hopeffuly cardigans and jackets would be enough?
  • I didn't include a white t-shirt /blouse or a black skirt - like the classic pieces - this should keep it interesting. (haha - Nervous laugh)
  • Last of all, I am so excited to take part in this challenge!
What do you think of my picks? Are you taking part in the challenge? Its my first time going for the whole challenge. I am nervous but more excited! Wish me luck! :)

Hope you will follow along! :)

•All I really need is love, but a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt! - Lucy Van Pelt

Thrift Outfit - $16

We had Chocolate Fondue with fruit (yumm!!). Dianne is busy melting chocolate above

Easter themed muffins, Donuts, Homemade cinnamon buns, Angel food cake

Floral Printed shirt and George Nude wedges

Yes, that is right, I will be having lots of chocolate this weeekend!! :) Happy EaStEr!

In case you missed last episode of Tippy tuesdays (you can find it here). I talked about budgeting tool to keep track of our everyday finances. For those of you who read it, did you like the idea? i need feedback!

We had Easter themed party at work and OMG! I skipped lunch bec I got myself filled with such wonderful goodies instead.

I am loving the long weekend - FRI-SAT-sUN-moN OFF!!!!!!!! yeehaw! =)

I might be going thrift shopping soon..I am on a hunt for a maxi dress, maxi skirt and maybe a pleated skirt.

Ryan (my fiancee and I) are also thinking of going ring shopping this weekend or maybe next weekend. For those who dont know, we are getting married in Feb 2012 in India. After much thought, I have decided to go not with a diamond ring but with Sapphire (as it is my birth stone and Sept has been lucky for me as Ryan and I started dating in Sept) Does that make me weird that I don't want Diamond. I want my wedding ring to have some personal value to it (whether it would be diamond or sapphire) and plus Sapphire is Gorgeous.

So this is my first thirfty outfit, Let me explain. The floral shirt is 3.99$ and pants $7.00 and grey shirt is $5.00 so total outfit cost is $16. Not bad eh? Oh but nude wedges are by George from Wal-mart - $20 (I love them!) and they are comfy too.

What did you think of my first thrift outfit?

Hope you will have a relaxing fun-filled weekend with family or friends - however you choose to spend it! xoxo
